Key Factors For Success

We have developed an approach that we believe is both successful and repeatable for all projects.  The following list are the key factors for our success:

  • Mutual trust and confidence between IT Cadre and our clients is vital.

  • Small teams win.  Give a small team of people a mission to do something they know, add motivation and you will have success.

  • Understand the primary objectives.  Always start with the mission and never lose sight of it.  Actively manage the driving requirements and do not allow detailed requirements to overwhelm the effort.

  • Deliver core (80/20 rule) fast and improve as users determine most beneficial enhancements.

  • Never let a priority request take longer than 60 days to go from identification to delivery.

  • Technology is not the driver.  Give me a single person that understands the problem, can carry on a meaningful dialogue with a customer, and has an ability to learn the appropriate process or technology and that person will deliver in a fraction of the time it takes a team of technologists.

  • Leaders need to know and check details.  They must use the power of the inspection.  Much like an officer inspects unit readiness, a leader must be able to personally inspect a solution to ensure sound approach at the beginning of the project.  They must then be able to check details throughout the project.  A key to our leadership approach is that we combine project manager and technical lead.  If a manager needs a technical lead, they are not qualified to lead a technical project.  If a technician needs a leader they are not qualified to lead a technical project.  This staffing mistake is very prevalent causing increased cost, indecision, and delay.
