Methodology for Vision Achievement (MVA)

Engineering innovative solutions to complex problems.

In a perfect world, every business unit, department, employee and end user would be working towards the same goal, the same vision. Unfortunately, this rarely happens and without a unified vision, organizations lose valuable time and waste resources due to redundant systems and efforts, project re-starts and missing functionality. How does this happen?

Most systems engineering firms produce numerous reports and diagrams at great expense to the client. Often there are studies and diagrams of the current environment and operations, analysis of the requirements, a report of the business goals and objectives, and a feasibility study of the proposed solution.

Unfortunately, these separate reports never meet; they never intersect. Each stakeholder views the documents that specifically apply to them and decide to move forward never realizing that the system view may not be in agreement with the process view or that the proposed solution will not work for several end user groups even though their functional requirements were addressed in a separate requirements document.

Using our Methodology for Vision Achievement (MVA), IT Cadre does something that no other firms do. IT Cadre creates a single diagram where all these views come together. A complex solution that includes the goals and objectives, business processes, architectural framework, and systems and program funding are all displayed and interconnected in one easy-to-comprehend diagram that all parties from executives to end users organizations can use as a blueprint to move forward.

MVA is systems engineering at its best. It enables development of powerful integrated visual depictions of complex systems and programs; a single “big picture” of the strategic, operational, and technology views. MVA enables:

  • Visualization of a single shared vision of the system or program
  • Establishment of agreements and commitments from all stakeholders
  • Elimination of redundancies and disconnects
  • Identification of risks
  • Clarity of purpose and accountability

Organizations who have taken advantage of MVA have benefited in a variety of ways. Such benefits can be categorized into three areas listed in the table below:

Overall Project

  • Visualization and clarity of the entire program (including purpose, accountability, systems, processes)
  • Establishment of agreements and commitments from all stakeholders
  • Identification of all critical activities required to:
    • Accomplish the mission
    • Prevent failures
  • Faster implementation of solution
Risk Reduction

  • Anticipation and preparation of issues
  • Elimination of redundancies and disconnects
  • Identification of risks
  • Assurance of seamless transition
  • Visual evaluation of the impact of a change across the entire project
Communications, Training, and Education

  • Communication of a single, shared vision of the program to all stakeholders
  • Executive leadership and decision makers
  • Program management, technical, and operations communities
    • End-users and customers
    • Education of new staff
    • Awareness for the customer community

IT Cadre developed the Methodology for Vision Achievement (MVA) to quickly analyze complex problems, resolve roadblocks, and envision solutions. MVA is systems engineering at its best and the foundation of all we do. Contact us to learn more.
